Mixed up Tenses

Is the following statement correct?
"A year ago from now, we met to discuss the party."
Let me know!

I'm afraid it's not correct, and it mixes tenses.
It would be better to say, "A year ago, we met to discuss the party."
"From now" implies future tense, not present, and the sentence is already in present tense, so it would be redundant, anyway.
